How Does it work?
Light and Laser is absorbed by the pigment in the hair follicle (Melanin), this light energy turns to heat which is effective in destroying the hair follicle with-out damaging the surrounding skin.
Many follicles can be treated simultaneously using the IPL os LASER hand-piece. A thin layer of gel may be applied to the skin to help guide the light while the hand-piece will be moved around the required area.
Who is suitable for treatment?
Most people will be suitable for treatment, Generally best results are seen with lighter skin and darker hair. All Skin Types and most hair colours are now treatable. Darker hair has better results due to the high concentration of melanin. Where as fair hair contains fewer melanin so is a little harder to treat, with the help of the advanced hand piece and the use of the Pigmantine much better results are now available. Can you treat Blonde, grey and white hair?
Normally fair hair can not be treated due to the lack of melanin present in the hair to absorb the light, we do however have a solution our new advanced Handpiece can reach lighter hairs and a product called Pigmentine. Applied to the hair twice daily for 3 weeks prior to treatment this products adds melanin to the hair. This is not guaranteed to remove all the hair but will if applied properly at home give 60% better results on fair hair that IPL treatments without it. We stock Pigmentine and it retails for £39.99 for a 50ml bottle.
Pigmentine
No hair can resist photo-epilation with Pigmentine, you will finally be able to remove the body hair that could not be removed in previous photo-epilation treatments. Pigmentine provides the melanin that is needed for fully effective photoepilation treatments without staining or irritating the skin.
Pigmentine is a new pioneering gel that facilitates the removal of fine and non-pigmented body hair (blonde, grey and white) that could not be removed with previous photoepilation treatment (laser or IPL) Pigmentine contains HCL liposomes, a compound that helps its active ingredients to penetrate more deeply into the hair shaft. This formula has been used in many hair treatments and is 10 times more effective than the liposomes in other products.
Is treatment painful?
NO!! Most people find the treatment extremely tolerable, IPL is virtually pain free some people even find it relaxing. Laser Can be a little more uncomfortable but the hot sensation is very quick and does not linger.
The bikini and Hair line on scalp are the most sensitive areas due to the high concentration of hair follicles, but an air cooler will be used on the skin to pre-cool the area and will be used during treatment to numb the area if needed.
Emla cream can also be supplied to put on the treatment area if required, this is a numbing cream.

What can I expect after treatment?
Immediately after treatment the skin may be red and the hair follicles may be raised, this usually goes within a few minutes but may take a few hours. There is a small chance of blistering and lightening or darkening of the skin, but this is very rare. The hair follicles will be damaged but will remain in place for 1-3 weeks while the epidermis renews. They will then be pushed out. ( this will appear that they are growing ).
How many treatments will I need?
IPL can not be said to be permanent as there is not yet sufficient studies, it does however reduce hair problems much quicker and much more painless than electrolysis and shows minimal, if any regrowth. Several treatments are needed as hair can only be targeted when it is in the growing stage “anagen”. Only 20% of hair will be in this stage at any given time. This is why we recommend a course of a minimum of 6 sessions, some areas for example the face may require more sessions.
How long will treatments take?
Depending on the area treatments can take from 2 minutes to 1 hour.
